Brewers Home shares tips to help let a bit of winter warmth and magic into your home with Charlotte Pearson.
As autumn moves into winter we are all spending more time at home.
Be that lazy Sundays in bed reading the paper or curled up on the sofa watching a film and drinking hot chocolate.
So if your space needs a refresh Melanie Adams, retail development manager at Brewers Home, shares some tips on the trends and easy ways to incorporate them into your home.
Metallic, rose gold and copper have been a very big trend for a while now and Melanie says that it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, with copper light fittings proving popular.
“Why? Well it adds a huge amount of warmth to a space while creating a very elegant and contemporary look,” she explains.
Giving a room a fresh look doesn’t have to involve redecorating.
“By simply changing a few accessories you can really change the look of the whole room,” reveals Melanie.
“For example, statement cushions, lampshades and rugs are ideal additions to lift a space and bring a room up to date.”
This season there have been an influx of interesting colours and patterns including rich, deep, earthy tones of maroon, indigo and gold.
However, Melanie adds that there are also some ‘beautiful dusky pastels’.
“When it comes to more permanent decoration such as paint and wallpaper, greys and neutral colours are always easy to update and refresh through the use of furnishings and accessories,” she says.
“The colour scheme can always be dressed up or down and matched with such a wide array of patterns and furniture styles that it’s hard to go wrong.”
Large floral patterns are dominating the trends alongside geometric designs.
Melanie is a big fan of velvet, which is currently on trend in the fashion world, describing it as a ‘gorgeous autumnal fabric’.
“It adds something luxurious and yet brings a cosy feel to the home,” she explains.
“In particular, we at Brewers Home absolutely love the stunning Issoria fabric from Designers Guild that is featured on the Issoria cushions.
“For a more vibrant look, the Lohko collection of fabrics from Scion are perfect for creating a Scandi-chic feel in beautiful, bright colours fitting the season – a style that is very on trend, particularly going into Christmas and the New Year.”
With the colder weather drawing in there is one key room which Melanie thinks we should focus on.
“The living room,” she answers.
“Create a cosy, family space to relax in at the end of the day or a comfortable area to host guests in, this is often a top priority around this time of year.”
And with Christmas round the corner what better excuse do you need to get the home cosy for the festive season?
